The Comeback of Brendan Fraser
For over 2 decades, Brendan Fraser entertained audiences with films like Airheads, Gods & Monsters, Crash & The Mummy franchise. He however unexpectedly stepped away from his shining acting career as he was dealing with personal matters.
His break from the spotlight was explained in 2018 to GQ magazine where in part of the interview he shared his experience of falling victim in 2003 to sexual assault at the hands of former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk. Berk has since responded to men’s magazine that Brenda’s side of the story “is a total fabrication.” Yet he has apologized to the actor about the incident taking place; that’s balanced.
Brendan did make the occasional appearances on film & television but his performance in his most recent endeavor, The Whale, is giving him quite the award buzz making him a possible front runner for the Best Actor Oscar. The response he received at this year’s Venice Film Festival would attest to that. In a video that has gone viral, Fraser received a 6-minute standing ovation that brought him to tears. That gesture showed him that he is loved as the talented person he is. It’s a testament to his quality as an actor and genuinely great human being. Sparking interest in checking out this movie.
This is just the start of doors reopening and Brendan making his way back to reclaim his status as an in-demand A-list actor.
Lonely Trolls Hating on Starlight
Erin Moriarty, currently known as Annie January/Starlight on the Amazon Original series The Boys, has been trolled by people who, to quote Martin Lawrence in his stand-up special You So Crazy, are living in their Mother’s basement putting their name on the orange juice. They know they wouldn’t stand a chance at getting a lovely woman like her. Medium writer butcherscanary expressed the ridiculousness of said trolls who seem to sling out their misogynistic remarks about the actress and the character she’s played for close to 4 years on a fictional television show.
What’s rather perplexing, is the fact that we’ve seen superheroes on both film & television for over 60 years, men & women mind you, and now some insecure unimaginable individuals who are so bored with their lives they choose to sling mud on Erin. It’s one thing to critique something, it’s another thing to be critical; these rude cowards were being very critical. They’re truly not too pleased with their lives otherwise they wouldn’t waste their energy being this asinine.
Moriarty gave props to the writer who came to her defense and took the high road as a response to her haters:
I do feel silenced. I do feel dehumanized. I do feel paralyzed. I’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into this role (over & over & over again). I’ve grown UP in this character’s shoes (*emphasis on grown up — we change & evolve mentally AND physically). [the trolling] does break my heart. I’ve opened up a vein for this role and the misogynistic trolling is exactly what this role (Annie) would speak out against. Everyone’s going through their own battle(s); let’s not add to that. I will never intentionally (and ESPECIALLY) publicly, add to yours.
With the support of her fellow cast members, the viewers & overwhelming positive reviews of the series that is currently preparing for its 4th season, it can be said with full confidence that Erin will prevail from this unnecessary ignorance. Keep up the great work & don’t let those naysayers take away your starlight.
Kudrow v. Pratt – Seriously Though?
Making yet another campy move to stay relevant, reality tv antagonist Spencer Pratt was asked by a fan on TikTok who’s the rudest celebrity he’s met, without hesitation he said it was Lisa Kudrow. The seller of crystals couldn’t take the high road and be respectful enough to use her real name, instead calling her Phoebe, her character from the NBC sitcom Friends. He would only share what happened if he received 1 million views – he got 5 million.
He brought up an incident in 2009 where he & his wife Heidi (Montag) were invited to an A-List party and upon arriving they took in the ambiance and partook in the food & drinks. He got the impression that when they arrived, it wasn’t well welcomed. While taking in the vibe of the event, they have a chance to meet with award-winning actress Lisa Kudrow, famously known as Ursula & Phoebe Buffay from Mad About You & Friends respectively.
His experience wasn’t so pleasant:
It was almost like we were filming for Punk’d and a camera was going to pop up, but Heidi and I didn’t care as there was delicious food and an open bar. As we were sitting there consuming a little caviar, Phoebe approaches, which was a little shocking as no one had spoken to us at all at the party. Right in front of me, she tells Heidi that she needs to get away from me as fast as possible because I’m going to murder Heidi and that I have the eyes of a serial killer. Heidi waits to see if this is a joke, maybe this is a hidden camera party. But no laughs, she just walks away. That right there was the rudest moment I’ve ever encountered with a human being.
Well, if that’s not the pot calling the kettle black. Spencer acting the way he did on the initial run of The Hills, and it seemed he was proud of his perception on screen, have quite the nerve to feel in such a way. Especially when it showed how he had no regard for other people’s feelings. What you witnessed was the response that can fit into the category of saying what many who aren’t in the industry were thinking. It was certainly on the message boards back in the day. Maybe if you gave off a better demeanor and a more likable albeit tolerable persona, kinder words, by your standard, would have been given. What would you rather she say? Furthermore, she could have said worse; believe it or not.
Interestingly enough, Bethany Frankel from the Real Housewives of New York piggybacked on Spencer’s claims, sharing her experience on her podcast where the appeared on her talk show:
When she was on my talk show, she stood out as the person who wanted to be there least of anybody the entire run. It was like I walked up to her at the supermarket, and she’d be like: ‘What?! You’re coming up to me in the frozen food section.’ I was asking her basic questions, and you could tell she didn’t wanna be there, which does make two of us. (I believe she’s a good person) she didn’t wanna be interviewed, which gets in the way of an interview.
There’s been no response from Kudrow, and why should there be? She has more realistically adult things to put her energy toward, like her future endeavors in her career. Besides, her fanbase on Twitter has that all covered. Enjoy the reactions you two, you love the attention anyway – anything to keep you relevant – you’re welcome.
That’s my opinion and everyone is entitled to one.
